How exact age is calculated
Exact age is worked out on the calendar, not by dividing days by 365.25. We count full years first, then full calendar months, then the remaining days — borrowing the correct number of days from the month before, so short months and leap years are handled properly.
One special case: people born on 29 February only get a real birthday in leap years. This calculator follows the common convention that in other years they turn a year older on 1 March — so on 28 February they have not quite reached their birthday yet, and their “next birthday” is shown as 1 March.
Total hours is marked “approx.” because it is simply total days × 24 — nobody is born at exactly midnight.
