How it works โ€” and an honest note about quality

  • JPG/JPEG images are embedded as-is using the PDF's native JPEG (DCTDecode) support. The PDF contains your exact original JPEG bytes โ€” zero quality loss.
  • PNG, WebP and other formats can't sit inside a PDF the same way, so they are re-encoded to JPEG (quality 0.92) in your browser. That's nearly indistinguishable for photos โ€” but transparency becomes a white background, and very sharp line-art or screenshots can soften slightly. If a screenshot must stay pixel-perfect, keep it as a PNG file instead.
  • A4 mode centres each image inside an A4 page with 36pt (ยฝ inch) margins, keeping its proportions โ€” landscape images automatically get a landscape page.
  • Fit-to-image mode makes every page exactly its image's size (capped at A4's long edge, 842pt).

Good uses

  • Scanned documents and receipts into one file for email or tax records
  • A photo set or portfolio as a single shareable PDF
  • Screenshots for a report, assignment or support ticket
